Provide Identification. Tag, microchip or tatoo your pet. Collar tags should provide your name, address and telephone number.
Be Prepared! Keep a clear, closeup color photo of your pet. Write down pertinent information about your pet including weight, markings, scars, and health conditions.
Make sure you have a securely fenced yard.
Don't leave your pet outside unattended for long periods of time.
Cats are happier, healthier and safer if kept indoors.
Have your pet spayed or neutered to reduce the urge to roam.
NEVER travel with your dog loose in an open truck.
Keep your pets inside during thunderstorms, fireworks displays, etc. These things frighten pets and they will run and hide from them.
Keep a current list of people who can help if your pet is lost or stolen.
If your pet is missing begin a search immediately. Keep looking! Don't give up!
