Posting Policy

Lassie Come Home--NC

We reserve the right to NOT post a pet without explanation.
We rely entirely on donations to continue our service.
If you post more than one lost pet in a two year period we suggest a
donation of at least $25 for the service we provide to post the
pet to the website. Consider this....a 7 day 3-line newspaper ad for a
lost pet would cost around $50. Your donation will help us continue to
reunite lost pets with their owners and keep our service going. Without
a donation the pet's information will be filed, but not posted on the website.
You will be notified, however, if your pet is reported found.

Please Donate

Lost pets will be kept on the website for 6 months or when
I am notified that the pet has been found. If you want your
lost pet's listing on the site for an extended period of time you
must notify LCH by phone or email before the 6 month period has expired.

Found pets will be kept on the website for 30 days.
If in those 30 days I do not hear from the party who
made the posting the pet will be removed.
If you want the pet to remain on the site for longer
than 30 days all you need to do is contact me by email
or by phone and let me know.

I will gladly keep the
pet on the site for as long as you want on condition
that I hear from you in 30-day increments.

I keep a record of ALL animals (lost and found)
that are reported to us. If the pet you posted is
removed because you have not contacted
Lassie Come Home or have not responded to
phone calls or emails
I will continue to cross-check
all reported animals in an attempt to match the pet you
posted. Because of the large number of postings
and very small staff (only one) the pet will not
be added back to the website.

I make every effort to keep the site updated. With
over 1000 submissions annually it has become a huge effort to
maintain the site and keep it current. A majority of
the people who post pets do not let me know when a pet
has been returned or when they’ve found homes by other
means. This means I must send emails or make phone calls
to find out what happened to the posted pet. Doing this
is very time consuming and sometimes the emails/calls
are never returned. Due to this fact I must make this
policy change.
